| MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF THE NEW BRUNSWICK PHYSIQUE & FIGURE ASSOCIATION
Len was also responsible for promoting the Atlantic and New Brunswick Championships in Moncton every year. Believe me, the work involved at promoting a successful bodybuilding competition is endless. Other than being the biggest and proudest bodybuilding fan in the province, Len was also a close personal friend to me. He leaves a very big set of shoes to fill, and it will take a concentrated effort from all of you to keep our sport growing in his absence! For the time being, I will take over the helm of President and do my best to continue the great legacy that Len has left behind. Hopefully, we can move in a positive direction and continue to build upon a sport that is all dear to us. Bodybuilding in New Brunswick has had its ups and downs for the past 31 years. However we persevered and, I am proud to say, that we are still around and viable. Of course a lot of this can be attributed to the dedication and efforts of Len and everyone out there who have supported us for all these years. Never forget that we are a family and like most families, we may from time to time disagree. But, when things get tough, we all pull together and as a result bodybuilding in New Brunswick is still number one. To continue to grow I think a few changes are in order! You may have noticed that women’s bodybuilding has regressed in recent years, along with Fitness competitions. However, it is not all bad as we now have a growing interest in Figure competitions. The recent popularity in Figure can not be ignored and, to recognize this, our association name will be changed to “New Brunswick Physique & Figure Association”. I feel that the new name is appropriate considering the current boom in figure and fitness related activities. Without question, the new name will be better accepted by the public, and this should provide us more favorable visibility when seeking out sponsors and publicity. For those who have not yet heard, this year’s New Brunswick Championships are being held in Fredericton at the prestigious Playhouse on November 4th. I am very excited that the championships have come back to Fredericton. I believe the last time it was held here was 1987. So, get out to your local gym and whip yourself into top shape, and I will see you on stage at the Playhouse on November 4th! Ask any former N.B. champion what it feels like to be the best in your province; their answer is, unbelievable! It is up to you to make it happen and join a long list of great New Brunswick Champions! I look forward to seeing you all! Garry Bartlett Created by Fitnessmedias.com |
